Secretary General

Job Description

JSHK is a non-profit membership organisation with the aim of encouraging public interest in Japanese culture and promoting cultural exchange, understanding and friendship between the peoples of Hong Kong and Japan. We offer Japanese language courses, organise cultural activities and provide scholarships in Japanese studies.

 

Reporting to the Council, the Secretary General is responsible for:

·        Managing and controlling the daily business of the Society, including financial management;

·        Providing leadership to initiate, lead and manage all initiatives, programme development and projects;

·        Defining the strategic development business model and managing the development, evaluation and implementation of the Society’s business and branding strategy and operating plans;

·        Drawing up publicity plan and leading and managing community and stakeholder engagement programmes;

·        Ensuring effective communication between the Council and stakeholders, including the development and management of working relationship with business and institutional partners.

 

The ideal candidate should have:

·        A university degree with minimum 10 years of experience at senior executive level;

·        Strong leadership and management skills, highly motivated, fast-paced, creative and able to work under pressure;

·        Expertise in project and event planning, people and financial management and organisational development;

·        Executive presence to effectively represent an organisation in public and vis-à-vis other organisations;

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);

·        Understanding of Japanese language and culture and exposure to Japanese education an advantage.

Vice Principal of Nihongokoza

Job Description

 

1.      To manage and ensure the smooth operation of the school, the teachers and staff.

教師及び事務スタッフの管理をしながら学校の運営を 円滑かつ確実なものとする。

 

2.      To plan and develop courses to cater for the varying needs of different sections of the community.

多様化する学習者層のニーズに合わせたコースの管理、運営及び新コースの開発。

 

3.      To plan and oversee the outreaching efforts of the school to local schools.

地元香港の小中学校や企業に向けた日本語課程の企画(アウトリーチ活動)、及び渉外活動。

 

4.      To represent the school in liaising and collaborating with other Japan-related organisations and institutions.

日本に関連する組織や機関とのコラボ企画の際、学校を代表し連絡連携に当たる。

 

5.      To provide support for the cultural activities of the Japan Society of HK.

香港日本文化協会の文化活動の支援。

 

Qualifications

High level of proficiency in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking and listening), preferably with experience in Japan.

Experience in teaching Japanese language an advantage.

Management and/or school administration experience preferred.
