“Origami – the Art and Science of Paper Folding” Lecture
Date: 24/08/2019
Since the invention of paper by Cai Lun (蔡倫) some 2,000 years ago, people have been using paper to fold different objects. We learnt to fold simple objects like boat when we were just a kid. This hobby proliferated in Japan and then some engineers formalized the paper folding techniques using mathematics and computers and created complex and real-life looking models.
The Japan Society of Hong Kong - Nihongokoza 50th Anniversary Special Presentation of Cultural Exchange Lectures “Origami – the Art and Science of Paper Folding” was held on 24 Aug. The intention of this lecture is to arouse the interest of the attendees to pick up origami as a hobby. Mr. Dennis Li, speaker of the seminar picked up origami as a hobby 3 years ago. He brought his own origami works to our members and students as gifts. During the seminar, he not only shared the origami theories and his experiences to us, but also guided the attendees to fold diamond etc.
