Dr. MONG Tak Yeung, David, our Honorary Vice President awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon

On 3rd November 2019, the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the Reiwa 1 Autumn Imperial Decorations.Dr. MONG Tak Yeung, David, our Honorary Vice President has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for his contribution to promoting cultural exchange and the enhancement and development of economic relationship between Japan and Hong Kong.

 

After taking up the post as the President of our Society in 2014, Dr. Mong has contributed to promoting cultural exchanges between Japan and Hong Kong through organizing various events related to Japanese culture such as the traditional Japan summer festival, quiz contest and music concerts.

 

Moreover, as the Chairman and CEO of Shun Hing Group, Dr. Mong has hugely contributed to the enhancement and development of the economic relationship between Japan and Hong Kong.

 

The presentation ceremony was successfully held on 13 January 2020. Ambassador Wada, Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong has delivered a congratulatory speech and presented the medal and certificate to Dr. Mong. Dr. Mong expressed his great honour to be awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon and was thankful for the support and recognition from the Government of Japan. "I hope to uphold this honour and promote further cultural exchanges between Japan and Hong Kong by supporting different Japanese related events. I am excited and looking forward to contributing to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by all means," he added.
